Trim, crown, custom built-ins, wainscoting and wood rot repair across Southwest Florida, by a licensed Florida Certified Building Contractor.
Why finish work shows
Every wall in a house is slightly out of plumb and every floor is slightly out of level. Trim is what reconciles that. A finish carpenter who scribes to the wall, miters tight and fills honestly makes a twenty year old house read as new. One who caulks over a quarter inch gap gives you something you will stare at every evening for the next decade.
Complete Construction Group is a licensed Florida general contractor (Certified Building Contractor CBC1266704) based in Bonita Springs. Owner Brian Davis runs the finish work personally, whether it is the last stage of a full remodel or a standalone job like built-ins, crown throughout, or replacing rotted exterior trim before it reaches the framing.
What we build
The job most people mean when they say carpentry. New baseboard, crown moulding, and door and window casing through a whole house, or matched into an existing profile so a single remodeled room does not announce itself.
Shelving, cabinetry and storage built for the actual wall rather than ordered to the nearest standard size. This is where a house stops looking like every other house in the community.
Board and batten, shiplap, slat walls and raised panel. A single accent wall is one of the few changes that costs very little and visibly changes a room.
Southwest Florida humidity, wind-driven rain and sun destroy exterior wood faster than most of the country. Caught early this is a trim repair. Left alone it reaches the sheathing and framing behind it and becomes a structural job.
The finish stage that ties everything together. Hanging and adjusting doors so they latch properly, and painting the work rather than handing you a bare job to arrange yourself.

What it costs
Kitchens and bathrooms have ranges because the scope repeats. Carpentry does not. Crown through four rooms of an open-plan condo and crown through four bedrooms with eight inside corners each are the same material and nowhere near the same labor. Anyone quoting you a per-foot price over the phone is guessing, and the guess gets corrected later in your favour exactly never.
No sales rep, no handoff to a project manager you have never met. Brian walks the job, writes the estimate and runs the schedule.
We measure the runs, look at the existing profiles, and talk honestly about where trim will and will not fix what is bothering you.
An itemized scope naming the profile and material, so you can see what solid hardwood costs over paint-grade before you decide.
Floors protected, cuts made outside where we can, site cleaned daily. Most finish work is days rather than weeks.
The stage that separates good trim from bad. Filled, sanded and painted properly, then walked with you before we call it done.
Wood in this climate
Southwest Florida runs humid most of the year, takes wind-driven rain from the side rather than straight down, and bakes anything facing south. Exterior wood that would last thirty years in a dry climate fails here in a fraction of that, and it almost always starts somewhere nobody looks: the bottom of a door casing, the back edge of a fascia board, the joint where a column meets the deck.
Caught at the trim stage it is a short job. Left until it is soft to the touch, the water has usually already reached the sheathing behind it, and what you thought was a trim repair turns into framing. The honest advice is to look at your exterior wood once a year and press on it.
Finish carpentry is one of the few trades that runs comfortably year round here, which makes it useful work to slot into season when bigger projects are restricted.
Seasonal resident? We can do interior finish work while you are north and send photographs as it goes.
Specified for this climate
The material question matters more here than almost anywhere, and the cheapest option on install day is frequently the most expensive one over five years.
Paint-grade MDF is stable, takes paint beautifully and will not telegraph grain. It also turns to porridge if it ever gets wet, so we keep it well away from bathrooms, laundry rooms and anywhere near an exterior door.
PVC and composite trim in bathrooms, laundries and anywhere humidity collects. It costs more and it does not care about water at all, which in this climate is worth paying for.
PVC, fibre cement or properly treated and primed wood. Primed on all six faces including the cut ends, which is the step most often skipped and the reason most replacement trim fails again.
Plywood carcasses rather than particleboard. A closed-up house in August is exactly the condition that makes particleboard swell, and once it has, nothing brings it back.

Featured project
A high-rise condo in Estero taken room by room. Beyond the kitchen and baths, the finish stage carried new trim, ceiling detail and built-in storage through the whole unit, which is what made a renovated condo read as one house rather than three remodeled rooms.
Who runs your job
I was born and raised here, and I have been working with my hands since I was a kid. When I went into business for myself, the whole point was that the person you meet is the person who runs your project.
Finish work is where I am fussiest, because it is the part you look at every day. A miter that opens up over the first summer, or a baseboard that does not meet the floor, is the kind of thing a homeowner notices forever. I would rather spend the extra hour scribing it than have you live with it.

It is quoted per project rather than per foot, because the labor is driven by corners, height and how much matching is involved rather than by linear footage alone. A single accent wall and crown moulding through a whole house are very different jobs. Brian walks the work and follows up with an itemized written price, free and with no obligation.
We take standalone carpentry work. Built-ins, crown through a few rooms, a wainscoted hallway or exterior trim repair are all normal jobs for us. If what you need is genuinely too small to be worth bringing a crew out for, we will tell you that on the call rather than after.
Usually, yes. Many common profiles are still stocked, and where a profile has been discontinued it can be milled to match. Matching costs more than starting fresh, so on a whole-house job it is often worth comparing the two before deciding.
Paint-grade is built to be painted, typically MDF or poplar, and it gives the cleanest painted finish because there is no grain to telegraph through. Stain-grade is solid hardwood chosen for its grain, because you are going to see it. Stain-grade costs more in both material and labor, since every joint has to be near perfect with no filler to hide behind.
In dry interior rooms, yes, it is stable and takes paint better than wood. Not in bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages or anywhere near an exterior door. MDF swells permanently once it takes on water and there is no repairing it. We specify PVC or composite in those areas.
Press on it. Sound wood resists; rotted wood gives, feels spongy or crumbles at the edge. Check the bottom of door and window casing, fascia behind the gutters, column bases and soffit at the roof edge. Peeling paint in one isolated patch is often the first visible sign, because the wood underneath is moving.
Small surface damage can sometimes be consolidated and filled. Anything structural or more than superficial should be cut out and replaced, because filler over rot traps moisture and the damage carries on underneath where you cannot see it. We open it up until we reach sound material and show you what we found before carrying on.
We paint it. Caulk, fill, sand, prime and finish coat are part of the scope. Handing over a bare install for someone else to finish is where most trim jobs go wrong, because the quality of the fill and sand decides how the finished trim looks.
That is most of what makes built-ins worth doing. Alcoves, sloped ceilings, around windows and under stairs are all spaces where nothing you can order off a shelf will fit properly. We build to the actual wall, which is never quite square.
Yes, and finish carpentry is often the easiest work to get approved, because it is quiet, dust-light and quick compared with a full remodel. We still prepare the association package, book the service elevator and work inside the building’s permitted hours.
Yes. Everything we install carries a one year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we come back and correct it.
